Cookie Policy
TruthLinked: A cookie policy written by people who genuinely dislike unnecessary cookies.
| Controller | TruthLinked (truthlinked.org) |
| Effective Date | March 20, 2026 |
| Governing Law | Nigerian Data Protection Act 2023 |
| Domains Covered | truthlinked.org, explorer.truthlinked.org, terms.truthlinked.org, privacy.truthlinked.org, cookies.truthlinked.org, rpc.truthlinked.org, airdrop.truthlinked.org |
| First-Party Cookies | Zero |
01 The Short Answer
TruthLinked is a blockchain protocol. Our products are infrastructure tools: a wallet, an explorer, a CLI, an SDK, and an RPC endpoint. None of these require us to identify, track, or profile you. We deliberately architected the Services to avoid collecting personal data wherever possible, and that philosophy extends fully to cookies.
We set no first-party cookies. We have no advertising network. We have no retargeting pixels. We have no social media tracking scripts embedded in our pages. If your browser shows a cookie on a TruthLinked domain, it came from Cloudflare's infrastructure layer, not from us, and this policy explains precisely what it is.
02 What a Cookie Is
A cookie is a small text file that a website or infrastructure service places in your browser. Cookies serve a range of purposes from essential security functions to invasive cross-site advertising tracking. They are categorised as follows:
| Category | Purpose | TruthLinked Uses? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly Necessary | Essential for the service to function securely. DDoS protection, load balancing, security tokens. | Cloudflare only (see Section 4) |
| Functional | Remember user preferences, language, settings | No |
| Analytics | Track usage patterns, page views, session data | No |
| Performance | Measure page load times, identify bottlenecks | No |
| Advertising / Targeting | Build user profiles, retarget ads, cross-site tracking | Never |
| Social Media | Track shares, logins, engagement via third-party platforms | Never |
03 First-Party Cookies: Zero
TruthLinked sets zero first-party cookies on any of its domains. This means we do not set cookies through our application code, our web servers, our analytics configuration, or any TruthLinked-controlled script.
We do not use cookies to:
- Maintain login sessions. TruthLinked's web products require no login.
- Remember your preferences across visits.
- Track which pages you visit or how long you spend on them.
- Identify you across multiple visits or sessions.
- Build any profile of your behaviour or interests.
This is not a cookie banner promise. It is a technical fact. Our web infrastructure does not issue Set-Cookie headers from TruthLinked-controlled code.
04 Cloudflare Infrastructure Cookies
TruthLinked's web properties are served through Cloudflare, a content delivery network and security provider. Cloudflare may set technically necessary cookies on TruthLinked domains as part of its DDoS mitigation, bot detection, and load-balancing infrastructure. These cookies are set by Cloudflare, not by TruthLinked.
TruthLinked does not control when or whether Cloudflare sets these cookies, does not receive the data contained in them, and does not use them for any purpose. Cloudflare's use of these cookies is governed exclusively by Cloudflare's own Privacy Policy at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
The following Cloudflare cookies may appear on TruthLinked domains:
These cookies are strictly necessary for the security and integrity of TruthLinked's web infrastructure. Under NDPA 2023, strictly necessary cookies do not require user consent because they are essential to the provision of a service explicitly requested by the user. Blocking these cookies may result in security challenges or blocked access to TruthLinked web properties.
05 Full Cookie Inventory by Domain
The following is a complete inventory of all cookies across all TruthLinked domains as of the effective date of this policy.
TruthLinked commits to maintaining this inventory as accurate and up-to-date. If any new first-party cookies are ever introduced, this policy will be updated at least 30 days in advance with clear disclosure of the purpose, duration, and legal basis.
06 What We Never Do With Cookies
For the avoidance of any doubt, TruthLinked will never use cookies for the following purposes:
- Advertising, retargeting, or interest-based profiling of any kind.
- Cross-site tracking of your activity on other websites.
- Selling or sharing cookie data with data brokers, advertisers, or marketing platforms.
- Identifying you personally across multiple sessions or devices.
- Tracking which wallet addresses or accounts you interact with.
- Correlating your on-chain activity with your browser identity.
- Embedding third-party advertising pixels, social media tracking, or any external tracking script.
These commitments are not time-limited. They reflect the architecture and values of the TruthLinked project. A blockchain infrastructure provider that tracks its users through advertising cookies would be fundamentally at odds with the purpose of building trustless, privacy-respecting software.
07 The Wallet and CLI: No Cookies Apply
The TruthLinked Wallet is an Android application. Mobile applications do not use HTTP cookies. No cookie of any kind is set, read, or transmitted by the Wallet application. The Wallet communicates with the TruthLinked RPC via direct API calls, not through a browser, and no cookie mechanism is involved at any point in that flow.
The trth-cli command-line tool similarly communicates via direct API calls without any cookie mechanism. If you use the CLI in conjunction with a browser-based workflow, any cookies in your browser session are entirely separate from the CLI's operation.
08 Your Controls
Because TruthLinked sets zero first-party cookies, there is nothing for you to opt out of on our side. For Cloudflare infrastructure cookies, the following controls are available:
8.1 Browser Settings
All major browsers allow you to view, delete, and block cookies. Blocking strictly necessary infrastructure cookies may cause Cloudflare security challenges to appear or may result in blocked access to TruthLinked web properties during high-risk traffic periods. Instructions for managing cookies:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and Site Permissions → Manage and Delete Cookies
8.2 Opting Out of Cloudflare
You cannot opt out of Cloudflare infrastructure cookies on TruthLinked domains because TruthLinked does not control when Cloudflare sets them: they are triggered by Cloudflare's security assessment of your traffic. You may opt out of Cloudflare's data processing for its own purposes at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
8.3 Self-Hosting
If you require complete freedom from any Cloudflare infrastructure, you may run your own TruthLinked node and connect directly to it. The trth-cli and Wallet both support configurable RPC endpoints. In that configuration, your traffic to TruthLinked infrastructure is minimal or zero.
09 Cookie Control Summary by Domain
| Domain | First-Party Cookies | Third-Party Cookies | Consent Required? |
|---|---|---|---|
| truthlinked.org | None | Cloudflare strictly necessary only | No: strictly necessary |
| explorer.truthlinked.org | None | Cloudflare strictly necessary only | No: strictly necessary |
| terms.truthlinked.org | None | Cloudflare strictly necessary only | No: strictly necessary |
| privacy.truthlinked.org | None | Cloudflare strictly necessary only | No: strictly necessary |
| cookies.truthlinked.org | None | Cloudflare strictly necessary only | No: strictly necessary |
| rpc.truthlinked.org | None | None | N/A |
| airdrop.truthlinked.org | None | Cloudflare strictly necessary only | No: strictly necessary |
Under NDPA 2023 and the general principle of privacy law, strictly necessary cookies do not require a consent banner or opt-in mechanism. This is why TruthLinked does not display a cookie consent popup: there is nothing to consent to beyond infrastructure cookies that are legally exempt from consent requirements.
10 Legal Basis
The only cookies on TruthLinked domains are strictly necessary Cloudflare infrastructure cookies. Under the Nigerian Data Protection Act 2023 and the general principle applied by data protection authorities globally, strictly necessary cookies are exempt from the requirement to obtain consent because they are essential to deliver a service that the user has explicitly requested.
Were TruthLinked to ever introduce non-essential cookies: such as analytics, functional preference, or advertising cookies: the legal basis for each would be specified in this policy, and appropriate consent mechanisms would be implemented before those cookies were deployed.
11 Changes to This Policy
TruthLinked will update this Cookie Policy if our cookie practices change. If any first-party cookies are ever introduced, we will publish an updated policy at least 30 days before deployment, clearly describing the new cookie's name, purpose, duration, data shared, and legal basis. We will notify users through the TruthLinked website and, where practical, through the Wallet application.
The effective date at the top of this document will always reflect the date of the most recent substantive change. Minor formatting or clarification changes will not trigger a new effective date.
